WiFi Internet speeds are not as fast as direct connections since wireless performance varies depending on other factors, such as walls, large objects, placement, neighboring WiFi networks, electronic interference from household appliances, etc.
Having said that, you can maximize your WiFi speed by doing the following:
- Position your router upright on an elevated surface (like a desk or shelf) in a central location
- Ensure that the front of your router faces the area where the majority of your devices will be located
- Verify that the router’s wireless path is clear and that no obstructive items are blocking the signal
- Do not place your router within 10 feet of cordless phones, Bluetooth devices, or microwave ovens
- Don’t place your router near heat sources, moisture, excessive dust, or extreme temperatures
- Perform a simple reset or full hardware reset as described in the previous section
